Social Story Examples

Here two examples of social stories written to help children adjust to
kindergarten. As you read the stories, try to think of pictures you would use to
make the words come to life.

Lee Goes to School
My name is Lee.
Daddy takes me to school in the morning.
I want Daddy to stay and play.
Daddy has to go to work.
I stay at school and play with my friends.
I can play with Daddy at home.

Mark sits in the Circle

My name is Mark.
I go to school.

We sit in a circle and Mrs. Baxter reads us a story.
I get excited and it is hard for me to sit.
Sometimes I stand in the middle of the circle.
My friends can’t see the story when I am standing.
I can sit and hold my squeezy ball.
Everybody can see the story.
